The Port wines we are selling is made by Niepoort Vinhos. A very Dutch sounding name. This is because the company was started in 1842 by Fransiscus van der Niepoort, who moved from Holland to Porto to start with port trade. The next generation started to make Port wine and did a good job. Their products and especially the ruby types have a wonderful chocolate aroma and taste that I find very seductive. And I am not the only one. There are various famous wine journalists that give 90+ scores.

The current owner and winemaker is Dirk van der Niepoort, fifth generation.
